People just wanted to get away from traffic and wanted to be free from the encumbrance of the continuous uprising of the value of fuel oil, that is why they promote “biking” or “cycling”. But, it is not just about that. Because naturally, Filipinos are ardently absorbed in an interest of biking and most of them are found in Mindanao specifically here in Davao. In fact, DavaoCity has a very active biking community. Last April 29, 2008, the Davao City Councilor Paolo Duterte had sponsored a mountain bike fest with the title “Abante Grande Mountain Bike Challenge”. This event is the most distinguished part for the celebration of the Catalunan Grande Festival. As what the PhilCycling Davao Chief Salvador Paholio stated, the race was a cross country MTB race that features open elite, Juniors (for 23 years old and below), Seniors (for 24-34 years old), Masters (for 35 years old and above), and ladies open categories. He also added that this was organized by the “Samahang Siklista Kooperatiba ng Dabaw (SSikad)” in coordination with the Barangay Council of Catalunan Grande in cooperation with Karancho Catalunan Grande Chapter and Davao City Sports Council Inc.

The popular ridge roads of Davao will eventually mark your mountain biking encounter. Animals such as monkeys, birds, and a lot more during your adventure are sights wonderful to behold. The silence of nature would certainly deafen you. Ups and downs while is a normal thing but just so extraordinary. Try biking the snake roads of the City of Mati at Davao Oriental. It is known of its exciting curves, twists, and turns. Yet, it is only one of the many places where you can take your bike together with your biking companions. SamalIsland also has its own way of treating the mountain bikers. Enjoy biking first before diving into the white-sand beaches. Anyway, it is already your choice where to go. Because in biking, you can go anywhere and explore up the world.

Wind and Wave Davao is the foremost aqua sports facility in Davao City, as well as the rest of the region. The company started on the early 90s, then known as City Shack Davao Dive Shop, operating as a diving shop that serviced the diving aficionados in the city.

Do you know the latest adventure Davao City has? If you have the desire of experiencing a very challenging sport, be ready to take your adrenaline to the highest level this time because the wild water river rafting is here. It is actually along the winding Davao River. It cruises through 24 extreme rapids from Barangay Tamugan to Barangay Lacson in Calinan District.

If you are going to have the rafting alone or together with your special someone, it is preferable to schedule the rafting on weekends because visitors (who also wanted to try the water rafting) are more. But if you are going to enjoy the challenging rapids together with your family and friends, you can go there any day of the week.

Prior to your water rafting trip, the different types of paddling such as the hard paddling, easy paddling, forward paddling, and back paddling will be explained thoroughly. Knowing how to swim is a necessity in this sport in case you will be rescuing someone who will fall on the raft. Anyway these matters will be explained and discussed further by the captain who’ll be leading the trip. Then, you will be instructed to put on your life vests.

On the trip, you will be encountering small rapids that are named as level 1 and level 2. Experiencing long stretch rapids is known as the level 3. You will be having a lot of twists and jumps. And later, calm waters until you reach the 13th kilometer and the 24th rapid which is the last rapid.

All throughout the journey were fun-filled as said by many people. Though it gives muscle pain afterwards, it is still worth it. The three-hour adventure had given them a strong feeling of amazement and satisfaction.
